Stena Metall strives to be a positive force that contributes to more sustainable development. With local presence and open dialogue with the outside world, operations contribute to positive development for both customers and society at large.

Stena Metall's relations with the outside world are ultimately governed by a group-wide code of conduct. The code is based on the principal owner’s values as well as the UN Global Compact’s principles of labor law, the environment, human rights and anti-corruption. It encompasses both employees and business partners.

Stena Metall’s ambition is to be and be perceived as an open, accessible and responsible player, with a high level of expertise in resource management and circular flows. In addition to close dialogue with customers and partners, Stena Metall also plays an active role in dialogue with politicians and legislators – at both national and EU levels.

At the group level, for example, Stena Metall participates in the European Innovation Partnership and in the government's Collaborative Group for Circular Bio-based Economics. In Sweden, Stena Recycling continues its commitment to the Haga Initiative. Stena Recycling in Denmark, as one of 21 selected businesses in Dansk Industri, participates in projects relating to the UN's Global Sustainable Development Goals.

In 2019, Stena Recycling, together with Investor companies Electrolux, ABB, Combitech and Stora Enso, started the arena Circular Initiative. The goal is to jointly develop concrete solutions for increased circular material flows in industry.
